The Best of All Worlds
As a commodities broker, I find it an advantage having lived in the heart of farm country. Some of my clients are farmers and ranchers who produce and use the actual commodities being traded on the exchanges. I talk with them every day.
I also spend a significant amount of time each day talking with the movers and shakers in the industry. Through the magic of satellite communications, I am in real-time contact with the markets at all times. And I'm obviously tied into the Internet, both to research information and to pass information along to clients and to those who may someday become clients.
I have been an introducing commodity futures broker for over 20 years. Previously, I was a branch manager in sales with Monroe, the Calculator Company and before that I taught college level mathematics.
By living in America's heartland and working directly with our clearing firm located in downtown Chicago, I believe I offer my clients a unique perspective on the entire trading picture. The best of all worlds.
Earning Your Business
Midwesterners have a deserved reputation for being tight with a dollar (for "squeezing a dollar until the eagle screams", as some folks put it). More than that, they insist on getting top quality for the money they are laying down.
As a commodities broker, I want the same for my clients. I don't expect you to just hand me your business. I expect to earn it, to provide service above and beyond the call. If you've already navigated through my web site, you have an idea of what I'm talking about. Tens of thousands of subscribers are paying $150-200 a year for a daily financial paper that gives them only parts of yesterday's trading data in tabular format. Others are paying $300 to $500 yearly for a packet of charts that reach them a week or more after the fact. On this site I provide you with complete data - including daily and weekly charts - updated daily from my satellite feed, shortly after the markets close. And all for free - with no strings attached!
From its earliest beginnings, the financial community has worked and communicated in ways which are confusing to the ordinary person. Some of that grew out of tradition and the merging of several diverse trading exchanges. But I'm convinced that the purpose of much of the jargon spouted by brokers, advisors and those firmly entrenched in the community is to keep the average person dependent on them.
I have a very different philosophy. I believe the average man and woman are capable of making their own decisions, as long as they fully understand the situation. I believe they are at least as smart as I or any other commodity broker. That's why I have developed a web site that provides information without all the "financial-speak". And that is why the majority of the information available on the site is available to everyone - both clients and non-clients.
You Deserve Maximum Value
As one of my clients, you will get access to every part of the our site, from online trading to free access to my Clients site which requires a login name and password. At this site you will be able to draw up a chart on any commodity currently trading as well as any that have traded since 1990. You will also be able to draw up an any minute chart on any commodity for the past few weeks. You can also draw up spread charts. Be aware that trading futures and options on futures may not be suitable for everyone.
Receiving educational web content and financial data is great. But the total value I offer to my clients doesn't stop there. Making the maximum use of technology, I can keep my overhead to a minimum and pass the savings on to you. For all the service I provide, I still discount my commissions, offering a $60 "round turn". That means to buy or sell a contract (or option), you pay me only $30 for the service. When you later complete the trade by selling or buying, you once again pay me only $30. All other fees are included except the NFA $0.09 per trade.
The margin requirement to open an account is zero. I do not have a minimum requirement, rather I reach a consensus with my clients as to what they need based on their plans. For example, if you plan to start with options, you only need enough in your account to cover the option premiums and the commission.
A Beginner - or an Old Hand?
If you're a seasoned trader, we'll get along just great. You have a full-service broker with discount rates. At the same time, you have the advantage of leading-edge technology that gives you an online research tool and automated delivery of critical market information, all at no extra charge.
If you're new to trading commodities, you've found a home. Perhaps you're learning trading techniques by reading a book or studying with one of the investment gurus. Either way, we will provide you with all the information you need to "paper trade" while you're learning. Once you get comfortable with paper trading, once you're consistently experiencing a net gain on simulated trades (without cheating!), you're ready to start an account. Just give me a call.
I'm available on market days by phone from 7:00am to 3:30pm CST. Call me at 612 216 4871, or toll-free at 866 840 9285. If you'd prefer, you can drop me electronic Email bohl@bohlish.com. If you would like to start an account, let me know. I'll rush a forms packet to you. You can download, complete online, or I can snailmail a set of forms.
One last thing. You should know what I believe about the relationship between brokers and their clients, and what I will and won't do for a client. For that information, you will need to give me a call. This will give us an opportunity to get to know one another. You should also know that I do not and will not sell or give away names or phone numbers or email addresses.
